Description

Equicast Wood Therapeutic Shoe/ Clog therapeutic solid Wood Shoes were based on the original designs by Dr. Mike Steward.

These shoes are specifically designed to provide M/L stability and protection to the whole hoof, yet still allowing for the material to wear some over time to accommodate the horse’s comfort level.

They can be used to help resolve problems from laminitis, white line disease, broken coffin bones, founder, long toe or low heel syndrome which can all benefit from the unique multi directional leverage reducing design.

This shoe comes complete with 1/8″ of sole relief cut out to accommodate for a prolapsed sole, plus a leather rim piece to provide even more clearance.

For best results use screws to initially secure the shoe/clog to the foot. Once the shoe has been attached to the hoof, the  TFP Impression Material is applied around the back of the hoof from the widest part to the widest part, then stretch Handy Wrap 100mm over the impression material and let cure for about 5 minutes. Once the DIM has cured, remove the stretch Handy Wrap 100mm and cast the hoof and shoe with Equicast® hoof casting.

A walking rehabilitation program is encouraged once these shoes are fitted to increase circulation, which in turn helps to improve hoof quality. Fitting can be achieved using Equicast, glue or screws to create a secure hold on the hoof.
